Congressman Tom Price will speak at the Vinings Business Association (VBA) luncheon September 7th, at Social Vinings restaurant, 3621 Vinings Slope Dr, Atlanta, GA 30339. The meeting is from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm and guests are welcome.
First elected to Congress in November 2004 as a Republican representing the Sixth District of Georgia, Price was re-elected with broad support in 2006 and 2008. Prior to going to Washington, Price served four terms in the Georgia State Senate – two as Minority Whip. In 2002, he became the first Republican Majority Leader in the history of Georgia.
In Congress, Price’s priorities include reforming the tax system, strengthening health care and education, keeping American families safe, ensuring enforcement of our immigration laws, promoting a 21st century energy plan, and finding transportation solutions for Atlanta’s residents and commuters. Congressman Price serves on the important Financial Services Committee as well as the Committee on Education and Labor, in which he is the ranking Republican Member on the Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions Subcommittee.

About the VBA
The Vinings Business Association (VBA), a non-profit corporation, consists of business owners, executives, employees, residents and interested citizens that are committed to enhancing the economic, business and residential vibrancy of Vinings and to promote the physical and financial health of the community through networking, social, cultural and educational activities. Regular events of the VBA include a 1st Tuesday monthly luncheon, a 3rd Tuesday after hours and a 3rd Tuesday VBA Executive Club.

May 4th Lunch Program Nathan Deal
Nathan Deal, U.S. Congressman and candidate for governor of Georgia. Nathan Deal was born in Millen, Ga. and grew up in the Middle Georgia town of Sandersville, where his parents were both public school teachers.
He earned his undergraduate and law degrees from Mercer University in Macon. He was a leader in the ROTC program in preparation for his service in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of Captain.
While at Mercer, he met his future wife, the former Sandra Dunagan of Gainesville. After his military service, they moved to her hometown and he began the practice of law.
He served as an assistant district attorney, county attorney and juvenile court judge before he made his first bid for public office in 1980, when voters in the 49th district elected him to the first of six terms in the Georgia State Senate. As a senator, he served as the chairman of the powerful judiciary committee and in 1990 was elected president pro-tempore of the Senate.
In 1992, he was elected to the first of nine terms in Congress. He rose to become chairman and now ranking member of the House Subcommittee on Health, and is know for his involvement in health care legislation, including a 2005 reform of Medicaid laws.
On May 1, 2009, he announced his bid to become the 82nd governor of the state of Georgia. He and Sandra have four grown children and six grandchildren The Deals are members of the First Baptist Church of Gainesville.
