2010 US 10K Classic Family Festival

The Family Festival is the Official Race Expo for the U.S. 10K Classic and is free to the public. The Family Festival is located at the Galleria Gardens on Saturday, September 4 (10 a.m. until 6 p.m.) and Sunday, September 5 (noon until 5:00 p.m.).

The Family Festival is the last chance for registered runners to pick up their race packets and timing chips. Registration is also available for those who want to sign-up (there is no race-day registration or packet pick-up). Race staff will be on-hand to assist with Customer Service solutions.

In addition to serving as a one-stop-shop for all of your race needs, the Festival also features an

• Artists Market
• Huge interactive kids area and
• Saturday’s Kid’s Classic Races.

The two-day event also features interactive displays, free samples, prizes and great bargains on apparel and fitness gear.

2010 US 10k Classic Race

The U.S. 10K Classic races are always held on Labor Day (the first Monday in September). The 2010 race will be held on Monday, September 6, 2010.

The 17th Annual U.S. 10K Classic is Atlanta’s premier multi-event road race, bringing approximately 11,000 runners, walkers, inline skaters, wheelchair athletes and professional cyclists together for a single cause – raising awareness and funds for children’s charities in Georgia and for the future development of the World Children’s Center.

The U.S. 10K Classic is known for its hills, organization and runner-friendly benefits. Each finisher enjoys post-race food by Publix Super Markets, drinks from Gatorade and a finish line concert at Six Flags White Water park.

This 6.2 mile road racing and 100K Pro Cycling event is held on Labor Day each year in Atlanta, on U.S. Hwy 41 (Cobb Parkway), a major four lane highway, offering a straight but challenging course. Race Participants include elite athletes from around the world, national and regional 10K running champions, international and regional cyclists, inline skaters, wheelchair athletes, corporate team runners, race walkers, walkers and people who just love to participate!

The U.S. 10K Classic was developed as a trust fund and legacy for children that it might continue to grow and expand, becoming an ever-increasing source of revenue for the charities that work to make life better for all children.

SPD Ride to Arrest Cancer

On Saturday, August 21st several friends and co-workers are teaming up to raise money and help two members of the Smyrna Police Department who are battling different forms of cancer. These two officers are currently undergoing radiation and chemotherapy treatments. We will be hosting a police escorted 40 mile motorcycle ride through scenic Cobb and Douglas County.

Following the ride there will be a picnic at Cobb Park located at 2774 Sanford RD between Bank Street and Powder Springs Street. Hamburgers and hotdogs will be served by members of the Smyrna Police Department.

100% of proceeds raised will be given to the Smyrna Police Dept. personnel who have been diagnosed with cancer to help with medical expenses.
