In the mood for a delicious Reuben sandwich or some of those great hot wings? Well you’ll have to wait until March 2nd when Howard’s Restaurant re-opens to the public. Howard’s has temporarily closed for the filming of a scene in the upcoming moving “Joyful Noise” starring Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah.
The scene to be filmed today involves the characters played by Parton and Latifah walking through the restaurant while throwing food at each other.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the musicians/actors will play a pair of ladies who work to stop the closure of a scrappy gospel choir. Latifah will portray the mother of a couple of teenagers who takes the reins of the Pacashau Gospel Choir after the choir leader dies. Parton will play the late choir director’s wife who is gunning for the chance to helm the singing group.
The film is projected to have a January release date.
Many locals will be cast as extras in the film, including employees, friends and you may even see Mayor Max Bacon on the big screen.
Howard’s Restaurant is located at 652 Concord Road, Smyrna, GA 30082 and has been serving local residents since 1964.
