shredding-documents-in-smyrna

In what has quickly become a corporate gaffe and not the type of PR a company is looking for, apparently a temporary employment agency in Conyers dumped some sensitive documents at the Smyrna Recycling Center that has now triggered a state investigation.

On Wednesday, the Governor’s Office of Consumer Affairs began a civil investigation. The documents included W2 forms for 1998, 1999 and 2000, Social Security numbers and other sensitive personal information, a Smyrna police report said. Bill Cloud of the GOCA said a notice was sent Friday to Pro Temps informing the company it’s being investigated.

How exactly do you make that mistake? When you’re dealing with sensitive documents, why exactly would you make the assumption that the documents would be shredded and why on Earth would you just dump them into a recycling bin? Maybe next time they should ask?

Or better yet, instead of taking them to the Smyrna Recycling Center, the temp agency should consider going to Shredfest in Roswell.
