Welcome back!
The Smyrna Area Council, which is the Smyrna branch of the Cobb Chamber of Commerce, recently named Warren Stubbs and Ryan Byers as co-Citizens of the Year. This is the first time in the eleven year tradition that the Council has selected two winners of the Smyrna Citizen of the Year award.
Warren and Ryan are sports ministry directors at the Smyrna First Baptist Church. They started the Upward Sports Ministry in 2005. They wildly successful program has benefited and impacted the lives of many of those living here in Smyrna Vinings.
The nonprofit sports program includes basketball, softball/T-ball, cheerleading and flag football.
As my family has also been blessed to have been impacted from this program, I would like to congratulate Warren and Ryan on this award, as it is a symbol of how much they have done for the Smyrna Vinings community.
Congratulations!

Help “Stuff A Bus” with Cobb Christmas on Wed., December 10th. The CCT bus will be in our downtown (Market Village/City Hall area) from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to accept donations of money, new toys, gifts, non-perishable food items, gift cards and gift certificates.
Your generosity will brighten the holidays for thousands of families.
About Stuff-A-Bus
Cobb Christmas partners with Cobb County Department of Transportation and Cobb Community Transit (CCT) to create the county’s most unique and memorable holiday program, Stuff-A-Bus. Think of Stuff-A-Bus as the opposite of Santa’s sleigh, Santa uses his sleigh to deliver gifts and Cobb Christmas makes a CCT bus our sleigh for collecting gifts.
The week prior to Cobb Christmas’ Annual Distribution, a CCT bus travels through the county to Stuff-A-Bus host sites gathering donations of food and toys. Host sites can be businesses, schools and other entities that have organized toy and food drives.
This program would not be successful without the help of local businesses, schools, and other organizations that serve as host sites for Stuff-A-Bus. Volunteers at these locations organize food and toy drives and begin promoting and collecting in November. All donations are stored and transported to Jim Miller Park—the Cobb Christmas Distribution Site-during distribution week.
For more information go to www.CobbChristmas.net, email Stuff-A-Bus@CobbChristmas.net or call 770-428-2601, extension 272.

The week in review:
As expected, reports indicate that inflation is in check. Price-cutting is everywhere right now … from the gas pump to your favorite retailer. In fact, minutes from the Fed’s last meeting indicate they are more concerned about deflation than inflation. This news bodes well for home loan rates. Last week home loan rates decreased about .125%.
What to expect:
We are going to get several important economic reports to digest before the Thanksgiving holiday. The most important is Wednesday’s Personal Consumption Expenditure report which provides another gauge on inflation. Once again, low inflation = lower mortgage rates. If talk of deflation continues, it is smart for investors to put money into investments offering fixed returns, like US Treasuries and mortgage-backed securities. Such investment would only help home loan rates continue lower.
Breg-ometer:
Next 7 days: Slightly lower
Next 30 – 90 days: Chance for rates to get better
