Welcome back!
St. Benedict’s Episcopal Church and School invite the community out on Saturday, October 4, 2008 for a St. Francis’ Day Festival.
Celebrating the role of animals in our lives, the festival will be held from 11 AM to 2 PM at the church property near the corner of Atlanta Road and Cumberland Blvd (Just across the street from Ivy Walk) in Smyrna.
There will be a pet blessing, crafts and games for the kids, pet parade and a Low Country Boil fundraiser. So bring your dogs, cats, gerbals, and other four legged friends; don’t forget your lizards, hermit crabs, fish, and any other pet that slithers, creeps or swims! We will also bless the “Dawg Run,” the new playground behind the St. Benedict’s Episcopal School B-Hive.
Our Pal’s Place Animal Rescue and Education Center (www.ourpalsplace.org), a Marietta-based no-kill shelter, will hold educational workshops on pet overpopulation, responsible pet ownership and dog bite prevention for the youth and children. They will also be bringing a few dogs who have been rescued from the county shelters that are looking for a permanent home.
The Rev. Lang Lowrey, Vicar of St. Benedict’s, states, “I expect that this will be a great time for families, both with two-legged and four-legged children to come out, have fun and grow as a community. I hope we will have a lot of new faces and wagging tails join us for a wonderful day.”
