Brief Description: Fast course with a 330 foot net down hill drop. The race starts on Mt Wilkerson and ends in the Chattahoochee River Park. The last mile is downhill on US41 to the River Park. The race is sponsored by Vinings Rotary and benefits Calvary Children’s Home, The Good Samaritan Health Center and the Vinings Rotary Charity Fund,

The Overlook III building address is 2859 Paces Ferry, but the entrance to the building is off of Overlook Parkway.

Buses will transport you from The river to the party at the Vinings Jubilee.

2nd Annual Tour of Homes

The second annual Vinings Historic Preservation Society Tour of Homes will be on Sunday, September 16, 12:30-5:00pm.  Five extraordinary homes have been selected to showcase, including one which has been featured in a national magazine. The residents who have graciously agreed to open their homes to the public are: Dr. Trevor and Jane Woodham, G.K. and Diane Johnson, Maarten and Annemiek Kuik, Bill and Jan Ferguson, and Harold and Rosemary Yourmans.

Tickets are $20 per person in advance; $25 at the door. Group discounts for 20 or more tickets are available.

Another week has come and gone, nothing much to mention really. Well, other than we’re now 50% done, having just completed our two days of homework and thankfully having a day of rest on Sunday. Yippee!

Now it’s time to get serious. Two more weeks of pushups, situps, lunches, crunches, running, sprinting, groaning and creaking.

Last week was a lot of fun, particularly slow-motion day. That was interesting. In fact, I should be able to update you on the entire week in the time it took us to do one pushup.  Our famed master instructor, Harold, decided we needed to take our time and really enjoy the routines. So everything was done in slo-mo. Except for the running, which I personally thought was a little discriminatory. Oh well.

One pushup basically took 20 seconds, 10 seconds to go up and 10 to go down. We did this for a set of pushups, situps, crunches, squats, calves, etc. Somehow it does hurt as much when you don’t have so much time to think about it. But having survived slo-mo, with the only side effect being that I now talk slower, we can look forward to Week 3.

What will Week 3 have in store for us. I’m sure Harold won’t let us down and we’ll get to experience the Big Run Day. Everybody’s speculating which day that might be. Or perhaps he’ll bring the jump ropes back. Just the sheer mention of jump ropes sends a shiver down my spine.

I can’t wait to get started though. So seeing as it’s now 5:45, I guess I better get moving. Time to Step It Up.
